The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) began service at the brand-new Potomac Yard Metrorail Station.

Described as “the economic centerpiece for Alexandria’s future,” the 100,000-square-foot “infill” station will connect Potomac Yard, a mixed-use redevelopment built on a former rail yard, with the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC stations along WMATA’s Blue/Yellow Line. Burns led design of the Potomac Yard station’s electric traction facilities, train control system, and fiber optic communications infrastructure. Additional services include coordinating advanced infrastructure systems’ implementation, integration, and commissioning.
